I have been on many guided waterfowl hunts, but none could compare with Front Range Guide Service. Jeff Colwell has mastered the art of waterfowling to such a degree that every aspect of the hunt was second nature to him, and the hunting experience was unsurpassed. Jeff not only understands the many facets of duck and goose hunting, but his enthusiasm and people skills ensure a great experience overall. Even his young Labrador retriever, Max, seemed to understand how to make the morning enjoyable. It quickly became evident that Jeff had done his homework as a guide. He had secured access to some of the finest ponds and fields on the Front Range. Jeff put fresh decoys out every day and made continual last-minute adjustments in order to adapt to the weather and other variables.
Every feature of Jeff’s hunts was top quality. There was no need to worry about unforeseen surprises like friends of the guide suddenly being added to your party, or the guide shooting the birds. Jeff ensured that every moment of the hunt was comfortable for his hunters.
I am a stickler about shooting birds close. To my relief, so was Jeff. When I say close, I mean well within twenty yards or less. I shoot 2-3/4” #2 shot through and improved cylinder choke for ducks and geese and that was more than enough for Jeff’s hunt.
